The 'Sign of the Angel' Lacock. The Angel was probably a purpose built inn during the 15th C. The name derives from a gold coin called an Angel which was first minted in 1461 in the reign of Edward IV. Some scenes from Thomas Hardy's 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' were filmed here.
