Broadway Tower rises 65ft on ground, 312m above sea level and as a result 13 counties can be seen from the top on a clear day. It was built on the site of an ancient beacon by James Wyatt in around 1799 for the wife of the sixth Earl of Coventry. Later it became the favourite country retreat of the renowned writer, painter and craftsman, William Morris, and his Pre-Raphaelite contemporaries.
