Top: Roman Catholic church opened in the former Town Hall in 1955, built in 1854 by Thomas Fuller of Bath, and the Swan Hotel on the left. Bottom: Holy Trinity Church on the left founded in 1150 during the reign of King Henry II, and the Saxon Church of St Laurence may date back to 7th/8th C, to the time of St Aldhelm, who was known to have founded a convent on the site between 672 - 702 AD.
